The new game from Cannon fodder publisher Koei Tecmo, titled Cannon fodder: shock and awe, is a game that puts the player in the shoes of a Japanese soldier who finds himself in a new country after a military operation fails to kill the evil virus.
It is a fitting title for a game whose core mechanics involve using a series of new items to kill enemies in a very visceral way, rather than simply running around and shooting at things.
“I’m actually quite surprised that it’s taken this long for us to get this far,” Koeitos game director Yosuke Hayashi told Polygon.
“We didn’t expect this level of reaction, and it’s really great to have that reaction.”
“We’re working on a whole new engine, so we’ll be doing some new systems and gameplay systems, but I think this will be one of the more polished titles of this generation.
We want to be able to be very cautious about how we use the game’s mechanics, so that we can be confident that they won’t become boring.”
This isn’t the first time that Koeis has experimented with new ideas in the Cannon franchise, having released the first game on PS2 and Xbox 360 in 2002, as well as the first title in the series on Xbox Live Arcade in 2004.
The first game, Cannon fodder, is an arcade game that takes place on a beach.
The second game, which took place in Japan in 1999, is the first installment in the franchise to be released on consoles, with the first release taking place on PS3 in 2010.
The third game, Cannon fodder: gb, is set on the island of Oga, which is where the protagonist, Shogo, was born.
The fourth game, called Cannon fodder ga, is scheduled for release on the PS4 and Xbox One in 2020.
Koei is not the first to experiment with new ways to utilize new items in a game, as the company has experimented by using the characters from the original Dragon Ball games, including Vegeta, Cell and Goku, in the upcoming Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods game.
“Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has the opportunity to bring a lot of new concepts to Dragon Ball Xenoversse 2, but we’re also taking our cues from the world of Cannon fodder to create new, unique and engaging gameplay,” said a Koeite official.
“There will be more to come.”
Cannons Shock and AwesomenessCannon is not without its problems, but the company says it’s made improvements since it released the original game.
“This is the kind of game that we wanted to make, so the game will have a lot more character development, and I’m really excited about that,” Hayashi said.
“When I’m writing a story, I want to make it feel like the original, so I can think, ‘I want to have a story where the main character has this special power.’
This time, the characters are a lot better, the level design is much better.
I can really focus on the main story and make it look like a traditional JRPG.””
There will also be a new system where the player can use the ‘Power’ meter in battle to enhance their skills.
I think that’s something that was previously not possible in the game, but now it’s possible.”
I’m not sure if the changes in the gameplay are just a byproduct of the changes to the engine, but Koeimas engine is designed to run on both PS4, Xbox One and PC.
“The reason we’re bringing back a new engine is because we’ve realized that we need a better graphics engine,” Hayashis game director, Yosuke Fujita, said.
“[In] Cannon fodder Shock and awesomenesse, we’re using a new GPU that’s based on DirectX 11, so if the graphics of the engine doesn’t work properly, we can use a new graphics engine that’s optimized for our system.”
We’ve been using this new engine for years and years and now we’re really enjoying it.
It looks like it’s going to be really fun to play.
“I’m glad we’re getting into this new direction.
I like the idea of a world where the world is alive, that there are people who love to fight.
We’re really looking forward to seeing what it will be like when we release Cannon fodder.
